Dana-Gabriela Dunca gained four AAT qualifications, including the Level 4 Accounting accreditation, supported by the Premier Training team.
Here, she explains how those qualifications have supported her career path to establishing her own accountancy practice – and how she continues to build her accountancy expertise:
In February 2018, I embarked on a new chapter in my professional journey by relocating to the UK from Romania. Here, I sought to leverage my existing qualifications and expertise within the dynamic landscape of British accountancy. However, I soon recognised the imperative of obtaining additional credentials that aligned more closely with the UK’s regulatory standards.
In October 2018, I made the proactive decision to pursue the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, recognising its widespread recognition and relevance within the UK’s accounting framework. After thorough research, I opted for Premier Training as my distance learning provider due to its comprehensive curriculum and flexible learning options.
Over the ensuing years, spanning from October 2018 to March 2022, I diligently pursued my AAT studies while concurrently fulfilling professional responsibilities. This period of dedication and perseverance culminated in the successful completion of the AAT qualification, marked by the attainment of my final exam in March 2022. This achievement stands as a testament to my commitment to continuous learning and professional development, positioning me as a competent and adept practitioner within the field of accountancy.
The AAT qualifications has played a pivotal role in advancing my professional journey and fostering my career progression. These credentials have not only increased my confidence but also elevated my standing within the accounting profession.
In May 2022, following the successful completion of my AAT qualifications, I attained approval for my AAT Accountant Licence. Subsequently, in July 2022, I embarked on the establishment of my own independent accountancy practice. This specialises in delivering bespoke accounting and bookkeeping solutions tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The integration of AAT qualifications into my existing academic portfolio empowered me to seek licensure under the supervision of AAT within my practice. This endorsement underscores my adherence to the highest standards of professionalism and regulatory compliance, thereby instilling trust and confidence among clients and stakeholders.
Furthermore, recognising the importance of continuous professional development, I embarked on a journey to secure membership with The Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA). Leveraging my prior qualifications, I was granted exemptions and consequently underwent selective module training. By September 2023, I had attained full membership status within the esteemed ranks of The Institute of Financial Accountants, further enriching my professional repertoire and affirming my commitment to excellence in the accounting domain.
Next, I am eager to continue my studying journey by pursuing the CIMA qualification. However, I am encountering challenges in identifying an alternative training provider that aligns with the exceptional standards set by Premier Training.
