Premier Training student Josh Abbott is progressing rapidly through an AAT qualification thanks to funding from the ReAct+ programme.
Having enrolled onto the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting course in February, Josh has already completed the opening two units of the qualification.
His course fees were funded by ReAct+, which offers people in Wales tailored solutions, including skills training to help remove barriers to employment.
Up to £1,500 in funding is available to help applicants get the relevant skills they need through a Vocational Training Grant.
To be eligible for ReAct+ funding, applicants must be aged 18+ and be a resident in Wales with a right to live and work in the UK and either:
- Under formal notice of redundancy
- Been made redundant or unemployed within the last 12 months
- Aged 18-24 and not in education, employment or training
Here, Josh explains how AAT qualifications funded by ReAct+ are supporting his career aspirations…
Why AAT qualifications?
I opted to start studying for an AAT qualification because of the strong foundation it provides in accounting. I believe, with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge gained through AAT, I have begun my journey to a successful career in the field. Additionally, AAT qualifications are widely recognised and respected by employers, increasing my chances of securing rewarding job opportunities.
Your career goals?
My ambitions in terms of accountancy and finance are to become a qualified and accomplished accountant. I will achieve this by doing each level of the AAT qualification. Possibly going on to do other qualifications within the field as well. I aim to work in a dynamic organisation where I can contribute my skills to help drive business growth and make informed financial decisions.
Easy to apply for ReAct+ funding?
Applying for the ReAct+ funding was fairly straight forward and I had a lot of help and support from Careers Wales and Premier Training to make it a smooth and efficient process. It was important to stay on top of the required steps involved in the application but ultimately the support is there to help you through the process.
