Chloe Neall recently gained her AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting and, in doing so, completed her AAT distance learning journey in just 20 months.
Here, Chloe explains how the three qualifications have helped her career progression, why distance learning was right for her, and why Premier Training were the perfect provider to support her along the way…
- What inspired you to begin your AAT qualifications?
A year and a half ago, I took on a role in a Finance Department for a Construction company on the basis that I would study my AAT alongside working for the firm. I was given the option to study in college or alternatively, study by distance learning. I was keen to progress through my studies quickly so requested to study via distance learning with Premier Training.
- How have your qualifications impacted your career progression?
My studies have helped me tremendously in my role and the more I have learnt through AAT, the better I have become at my job. I would have been able to complete individual, systematic tasks without the help of the qualification, however AAT has meant that I am now able to see the full picture of the Finance function, and complete much more complicated and stimulating tasks. Alongside my salary increasing, I have also been given more responsibility and feel far more confident in the work that I do.
- How did you revolve your studies around your job?
Distance learning has meant that I have easily been able to fit my studies around work by studying mainly in the evenings and on weekends. The online material meant that I was able to study whenever I had the spare time (often when commuting to work or for just a few minutes on my lunch break). During busier weeks, I didn’t feel any pressure if I couldn’t fit in the time to study, whilst other weeks, I was able to really focus and get ahead with the course. I also saved a huge amount of time that I would have spent travelling to college and, instead, was able to study from the comfort of my home (often with a dog on my lap and a cup of tea – It really didn’t feel like work!)
- Did the flexibility of the Premier Training programme help?
Premier Training never put any pressure on me to complete work for deadlines, but yet they were always there when I needed them. This enabled me to work quickly through the parts I found easy, and spend additional time on the areas I found more challenging. I was able to dictate the speed at which I worked through the qualification which meant I was able to complete all three levels in a year and a half, as opposed to the 3.5 years it would have taken if I had chosen to study in college.
- Were you impressed by the level of support available?
The support I received from Premier Training could not have been better. My tutor worked into the evenings so was readily available when I needed him. On Peter’s days off, my emails and assignments would be forwarded onto another tutor who would mark my work and answer my questions without delay. My queries were always responded to with a detailed response so I never felt as though I had to work through difficult material alone. The course material consisted of a mixture of reading, quizzes, and videos, which meant the work would be easily understood my any type of learner. The reading material can also all be accessed online which enabled me to study when I was out and about without needing to lug any books around with me.
