Amy Clements is progressing through her third AAT qualification – all whilst working full-time as an Office and Accounts Administrator.
Having already completed the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping and Foundation Award in Accounting Software with Premier Training, Amy is now midway through the Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping course with the same training provider.
And, as she explains, studying AAT qualifications from home has been the ideal path for her lifestyle and career.
“Distance learning has been a comfortable option due to the fact that I work full-time and I didn’t have the time to attend a college course outside of working hours,” said Amy.
“It enables me to set time aside to study, and I still get the same amount of assistance that I would in a college class due to the tutors being easily accessible and very eager to help.”
At work, Amy’s daily tasks include producing sales invoices, maintaining the purchase ledger, checking supplier statements against the ledgers, dealing with accounts queries and credit control.
‘More confident in my role’
She added: “My level 2 and level 3 courses in Bookkeeping have allowed me to understand in more depth the background working of the double-entry system, therefore ensuring that I can work with the systems manually rather than relying on the software.
“The knowledge has made it easier to navigate around the system and made me more confident in dealing with queries and disputes.
“I work on the Sage 50 Accounting Software daily in all tasks within my role, therefore being able to study the AAT Level 2 Award in Accounting Software has improved my skills and expanded my knowledge on the system, and allows me to recognise any errors.”
Amy plans to take the AAT Accounting route next through the Level 3 Advanced Diploma and Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting courses – again with Premier Training.
